Taimen Fishing on the Confluence of Onon, Barkh and Eg Rivers
Tour description
Mongolia is one of world fishermen’s dream places, ideal for great fishing tours. Mongolian crystal clear rivers and lakes host 75 species of fish including Taimen, the world’s biggest Salmon that can grow up to 1.5m long and weigh 50 kg. We offer you a great Taimen fishing tour at the confluence of the Onon, Barkh and Eg Rivers of eastern Mongolia, Chinggis Khaan’s birthplace. The Onon River rises on the northern slope of the Khan Khentii Mountain Range and flows 808 km to join the Shilka River in the Russian Federation. For its first 445 km the Onon flows through Mongolia. The Khurkh, Eg, Balj, Barkh and Shus Rivers flow into the Onon. The Onon and its basin are considered to be the place of origin of all Mongols and are closely connected with the name of Chinggis Khaan and the “Secret History of the Mongols”. The Onon River abounds with fish with around 20 species, including Sturgeon, Taimen, Lenok, Amur Club, Barbel, Amur Pike, Khadary, Amur Grailing, Amur Ide, Amur Catfish, Golden Carp and Burbot. White-napped crane, swan geese and other rare birds are also found in the valley of the Onon. If you are a fisherman, Mongolia is a destination not to be missed!
