Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. We will meet you at the airport with your name sign. Visit the National Museum of Mongolian History, Gandan Monastery and Genghis Square (Sukhbaatar Square), the city’s central square in front of the Mongolian Parliament building. Here we will provide you with some basic information about Mongolia and our capital, Ulaanbaatar.

Drive west to beautiful Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes. Elsen Tasarkhai is one of the most picturesque places of Mongolia and is part of the 80 km long Mongol Els Sand Dunes. This place is a wonderful combination of pretty sand dunes, majestic granite mountains, grassy green land, a clear fresh spring and a tiny lake. Indeed, here you can enjoy seeing the combination of Gobi and Khangai Natural Zones. Start the hiking and visit the Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes and Erdene Khamba Temple in picturesque Khugnu Khan Mountain. Enjoy the natural beauty. Overnight in a traditional Mongolian ger. Today we will drive to Karakorum, the ancient capital of Mongolia. Karakorum (Kharkhorin) was the capital of Great Mongolian Empire of Chinggis Khan in the 13-14th Centuries. Visit one of Mongolia’s two largest monasteries, “Erdenezuu”, Museum of Karakorum and surrounding sites of Karakorum: the Great Khan’s monument, the legendary Turtle of Karakorum and the Phallic Rock statue. Erdenezuu Monastery has a complex of 108 stupas and over 10 temples that contain rich displays of Mongolian Buddhism. The Erdenezuu Monastery and ruins of Karakorum were registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1996. Hike back to the camp. Hike around the camp or by the Orkhon River. (Half day hiking)

Today we drive to Tsenkher hot spa via Tuvkhun. Tuvkhun Monastery is located on the top of the 2312 meter high Undur Shireet Mountain. The monastery was established by the first Mongolian Buddhist saint, Zanabazar, in 1654. Zanabazar lived, worked and meditated here for 30 years. There are 14 small temples, a hermit’s cave, several pilgrimage sites as well as Zanabazar’s boot imprint on a rock. We will hike up to the temple on the top of Undur Shireet Mountain and the hiking will be quite challenging for you. Enjoy amazing views of the natural surroundings from the peak. Continue driving to Tsenkher Hot Spring. The Spring water contains a blend of the most useful minerals for the human body. Mongolians say its water is a pleasant treatment for stress, nervous disorders and rheumatism. Then enjoy walking to the beginning of the mineral spring and having hot mineral water bath. Here you will also have an opportunity to go horseback riding on your own if you like. (Half day hiking)

In the morning we will drive to Ugii Lake. The lake covers 25 square km and is rich in perch and pike. Crane, duck and other species migrate to this area beginning in May. Swan, geese, white spoonbill, Dalmatian pelican and others have also been sighted. Enjoy bird watching and walking by the lake shore. (Half day hiking)

Drive to Khustai National Park. This park protects the “Takhi” wild horse, also known as Przewalski’s wild horse. The park also contains a great diversity of other rare wild animals and plants. Visit a small museum of the Takhi wild horse and watch a short documentary film about Khustai NP. Enjoy hiking in the park area and seeing the Takhi wild horse. (Hiking)

This morning we will drive to beautiful Terelj National Park via Ulaanbaatar. Terelj National Park is a picturesque place of high granite cliffs that have been eroded by natural forces, creating a wonderful landscape of granite tors as if carved by some giant sculptor. Hike to and visit the Turtle Rock formation the symbol of the national park and “Aryabal” meditation temple where you can enjoy the best view of the park. (Half day hiking)

After breakfast we will drive east and visit Chinggis Khaan’s statue complex. The 40 meter high stainless steel statue of Chinggis Khaan on the horseback is the largest of its kind in the world. Enjoy the view of the surrounding area from the open balcony on Chinggis Khaan’s horse’s head. Then we visit the “13th Century” Theme Park. This is the only place you can go back in time and visit the old time micro Kingdom of Mongolia and experience the genuine environment of the way of living and working in the 13th Century. Have Mongolian meal for lunch in the Great Khaan’s Palace Ger. There is a 13th Century relay-station, craftsmen, educational, herder’s and Shamans’ camps, plus the Great Khaan’s Palace Ger. Enjoy hiking between the some camps. All camps are open to you and free to experience. Enjoy free horseback & camel riding, playing traditional games, writing your name in Mongolian calligraphy, dressing in traditional Mongolian clothes and taking great pictures of your experience for a lifetime of memories. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. (Half day hiking)

Meet after breakfast and we will drive to the southwest to Manzushir. Visit a small, but interesting natural museum. The brief visit to the museum will introduce you to some of the wildlife and natural beauty of the area. See a large boiling pot that is known to have been used here to cook for 1000 people at one time. Visit the reconstructed main temple and the other temple ruins of Manzushir. Enjoy seeing the unique historical and cultural expositions of god images carved in the granite rock. Start hiking (about 5-6 hours) to the Tsetsee Gun Holy Peak (2256 meters) on Sacred Bogd Khan Mountain in its strictly protected area. Have a picnic lunch on the way. Enjoy the splendid view of Ulaanbaatar and the surrounding areas from the top of Bogd Khan Mountain. Hike down and drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Have shopping at a cashmere factory outlet store, a souvenir shop or whatever else you want to do. (Hiking)
