Every year, hundreds of tourists from different corners of the world visit Northern Mongolia to see and enjoy Lake Khuvsgul, “The Crystal Blue Pearl” of Mongolia. The lake itself is one of the natural wonders of the earth and it is the second largest freshwater lake which contains 1% of the world’s fresh water. Khuvsgul Lake is surrounded by magnificent pine-covered Alpine-like mountains. This condition makes the area a marvelous breathtaking place to relax and relieve stress. The lake is rich in fish species and the surrounding area abounds in wildlife like diverse species of birds, red deer, reindeer, bear, elk, moose, and wild Argali sheep. The minor ethnic groups, Reindeer herders and Darkhad people, inhabit this area with their unique culture, traditions and Shamanist religion. Horse lovers will be delighted with the lovely horseback riding journeys available from the ger camps. Visiting with a Reindeer herder’s family, boating, fishing and hiking tours are also available.
